TRAIN THE ART OF 8 LIMBS...

Muay Thai, also known as "Thai boxing," is a martial art that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs,” as it consists of the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins.  Muay Thai became widespread internationally in the late 20th to 21st century, when practitioners from Thailand began competing in kickboxing and mixed-rules matches as well as matches under Muay Thai rules around the world.

Strengthen Your Mind & Body

It’s hard to narrow down all the benefits of training Muay Thai but let's give it a shot! You will learn a skill that will help you grow as a human, staying positive and humble on both your best and worst training days. It will get you in killer shape without a doubt. It is more than just a “work out” to shoot your heart rate up; it also helps you improve your flexibility and mobility. You'll connect with a team of individuals that are on the same mission as you; to get stronger mentally and physically through a Martial Art that fires you up!

Build Mental Fortitude⁣
⁣
⁣Just as important as honing the skills and techniques for this most distinguished martial art, is sharpening the way you THINK  in order to make you a stronger and more resilient human on and off of the mats. Muay Thai will help you cultivate a sense of confidence and a deeper purpose if you treat it as more than a punching or kicking session.  It can be a game changer for your mental health & overall wellness.

Crush Stress

After a long day staring into a computer, nothing feels better than smashing a pair of thai pads with your punches and kicks to blow off some steam. The minute you jump on the mats and begin focusing on your training, you can start rebuilding your energy and cultivating those endorphins, allowing you to walk out of the gym a different person than when you first walked in.

What Does a Typical Muay Thai Class Look Like?

ABOUT CROM MUAY THAI

I’m Chris Romulo, a retired professional Muay Thai champion, speaker, author and coach.  I’m also a first generation Filipino-American/ NYC native, husband and father.  ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Muay Thai saved my life 30 years ago when I was a young knucklehead coming up in Queens Village and I’ve been paying it back ever since. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I started training and competing in the mid 90’s when Muay Thai was virtually unheard of on the East Coast.  I was mentored by Sitsutam Muay Thai, Ultimate Gym and Jason Strout of Church Street Boxing Gym.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Through my time in the sport, I was blessed to capture 5 Amateur titles (including a bronze medal at The IFMA World Championships in Thailand in 2004) and professionally, I was crowned the 2010 WKA Professional North American Champion. ⁣⁣

My passion for the sport guided me to share my knowledge and open up the first combat sports gym in Rockaway Beach NYC, alongside my wife Sarah and sharing the motto that; All it takes is heart.⁣⁣

Over our ten years there, we ran a Muay Thai academy for kids, teens and adults in our community.

With the desire to give back to kids like myself, we started a scholarship program, with the help of the non-profit organization, The Muay Thai Project, for the at-risk youth in our area. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣In an effort to further expose the sport, we hosted a number of sanctioned amateur Muay Thai fight shows, Battle Rock Promotions, that brought in talent from up and down the East Coast. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In addition, I’ve worked closely with the Wounded Warrior Project helping our veterans gain mental and physical strength through Muay Thai. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I love sharing my passion for the sport, not only by teaching but through writing my book: Champions Uprising, refereeing events and spreading the Champ Up mindset of Fall 7 times, Stand up 8. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I  look forward to sharing CROM Muay Thai with you inside of UFC Riverdale!

There is a reason why Muay Thai is considered the "King of the Ring"...

  • Absolutely!  Right now, our classes are mixed level but once we increase the schedule, we will have classes specifically for beginners to build foundational skills.  Don't wait, get in and start learning!
